Valve actuators mount on valves and, in response to a signal, move a valve to a desired position using an external power source.

There are several basic types of valve actuators:-

  • Manual valve actuators
    Manual valve actuators uses handwheel or lever to drive a series of gears whose ratio results in a higher output torque compared to the input (manual) torque and do not require external source of power.

  • Electric valve actuators
    Unlike manual valve actuators, electric valve actuators use a three-phase or a single-phase AC or DC motor to drive a combination of gears to generate the desired torque level.

Acme screws are lead screws with matching threads on both the screw and nut. Ball screws are lead screw and ball nut combinations that enable the balls in the nut to circulate when the actuator is in motion.
Electric linear actuators vary in terms of motor type, power, and features. Electric linear actuators with belt drives, geared drives, and direct drives are also available. The motor is connected directly to the electric linear actuator for direct drives.
