Belimo Electric Actuators

Belimo USA have introduced a new generation of Belimo valve actuator featuring Belimo motors with an even greater output and even less energy consumption as well as a consistent installation and operating philosophy. Belimo USA are specialists in the development, manufacturing and supply of Belimo damper actuators, Valves, Belimo valve actuators and VAV Variable Belimo air controls.

The product range is backwardly compatible with existing Belimo USA products. Torque ratings have been upgraded to 5, 10, 20 and 40Nm. Digital MP Types will be offered in addition to the standard and individually programmable MF types. The MP types will allow up to eight control devices, including sensors, to be integrated together into higher-level systems via the Belimo MP-Bus®. Projects realized in field installations utilizing MP-Bus® confirm that this dramatically reduces not only the number of data points but also cabling expenses.

Belimo has a dedicated range of actuators for Fire and Smoke applications maintain integrity up to temperatures of 900°C for 1 hour. For smoke applications, Belimo provide enclosures to ensure operation of the smoke Belimo damper actuators at 300°C for 1 hour and 600°C for 30 minutes. Linear actuator solenoids convert electrical energy into mechanical power via a plunger with an axial stroke in either a push or pull action. They are rated for a 100% duty cycle and generally remain in an on-state without interruption for periods of approximately 30 minutes or longer.

Electrical current is supplied to a coil that is wound tightly enough to limit the current drain and sized large enough to provide for adequate heat dissipation. The resulting magnetic field draws the plunger from its un-powered, extended position to a seated position against a backstop or pole piece. Because the linear force on the plunger is nonlinear with position, the force is relatively high immediately adjacent to the seated position and declines rapidly with increased distance from the seated position.

Continuous duty linear solenoids are considerably larger than intermittent devices and often feature a two-coil design that provides greater pull-and-hold strength than single-coil devices of the same design. For linear actuator solenoids that are capable of both continuous and intermittent duty, force ratings vary widely by duty cycle. A core of actuator solenoid is provided which is improved in durability and at the same time ensures high energy efficiency of the actuator solenoid. The core of the solenoid actuator attracts an armature during operation of the actuator solenoid.

A plurality of core plates are formed of a magnetically soft material and laminated in a predetermined direction orthogonal to a direction of attracting the armature to form a laminated stack. The plurality of core plates are each coated with insulating film, which insulate adjacent two core plates from each other. Further, a rod formed of a non-magnetic material rigidly secures the plurality of core plates and the two core holders to each other to form a unitary assembly.

Siemens Building Technologies introduces fire damper actuators with two-position operation and 15-second actuation of fire and combination fire/smoke dampers. Models feature an integral electronic fuse link option inside the actuator that immediately initiates damper actuation when the high temperature limit is achieved.
