Honeywell Gas Valves

Honeywell gas valves are leaders in their industry, as are many other HVAC components. The manufacturer’s valve production is extremely selective, their prestige only allowing for top-notch valves to hit the shelves. Thoroughly tested in the laboratories, the manufacturer’s valves have proven to be the most reliable and most comfortable to use valves on the market. Gas valves make no exception; actually they improve this rule.

Thier gas valves are used as safety precautions to your gas based heating system or other HVAC heating components that use gas as a power supply. Gas valves basically shut-off gas supply in the event of risky conditions, which could prove unsafe to your system and to your integrity. The valves shut-off gas when a gas interruption occurs or when there’s a power outage that could prove dangerous, all this being made automatically. You will feel much safer once you install a gas valve, since they are 100% reliable.

Honeywell Gas Valve

Some of the most popular Honeywell gas valves, include the following models: the VR8304 Universal Gas Valve, the VR8200A 2132 Standing Pilot Gas Valve, the VR8300A 3518 Standing Pilot Gas Valve, the VR8300A Standing Pilot Gas Valve, the VR8300H Standing Pilot Gas Valve, the VR8345M 4302 Universal Electronic Ignition Gas Valve and the SV9501M Gas Valve and Smart Valve. Let’s take a closer look at each model and its features.

VR8304 Universal Gas Valve models are redundant, electrically operated valves that use an intermittent gas valve operated with 24 volts. It is a single stage valve that handles natural gas and has a pressure regulator of 3.5” wc. Electrical ratings measure 24 Vac, 60 Hz and 0.7 A. The electrical connection is a male 1/4" fitting that quickly connects, making the installation process much more comfortable.

The VR8300A 3518 Standing Pilot Gas Valve combines gas control for use in 24 HVAC systems that use gas as a power supply and systems that have a standing pilot appliance with a capacity from 30 to 300 cfh. The model is a single stage valve with a standing pilot ignition type that handles natural gases only. The pressure rating is of approximately 3.5 kPa and the regulator setting is of 0.87 kPa. The temperature range that it can withstand is between 0 and 175 F. It can be mounted in any direction from the upright position of the gas knob, as long as the angle doesn’t exceed 90 degrees. Its dimensions are 3/8” high, 1/16” wide, and 11/16 D.

The VR8300A 4516 Standing Pilot Gas Valve is also a single stage, standing pilot valve that has an inlet/outlet size of 3/4". It features an integral tapping body pattern and it can be mounted in any required direction from the upright position of the gas knob, at a maximum angle of 90 degrees. It includes two reducer bushings of 3/4 x 1/2 inches.

Similar to the VR8300A 4516 Standing Pilot Gas Valve, the VR8300H 4516 Standing Pilot Gas Valve has a few distinct features, separating it from its cousin valve. It can be used in 24 Vac/60 Hz gas fired heating systems and has a capacity of 200 000 Btu’s per hour. The temperature range in which the H model can operate is between 0 and 175 F. Its slightly bigger dimensions are as follows: 5 3/8"H x 4 1/16"W x 2 11/16"D. Just like the A model, the VR8300H can be mounted in any position that doesn’t exceed a straight angle on the gas knob (this means it can even be mounted in a vertical position if needed).

The VR8345M 4302 Universal Electronic Ignition Gas Valve is larger than the rest of the valves and presents some distinctive features of its own. Its capacity is quite large, going up to a maximum of 300 000 Btu’s per hour. Although it is still a single stage valve, the ignition type of this model uses a direct ignition and intermittent pilot system. Operating in lower temperature conditions that go to a minimum of – 40 F, the VR8345M gas valve ca be used in even harsher conditions than many other valves. The maximum temperature range however is not increased, going to a maximum of 175 F. Its dimensions are as follows: 5 3/8” H x 4 1/16” W x 2 11/16” D.

Last but not least, the Gas Valve SV9501M 2528 Smart Valve models are designed to combine electronic intermittent pilot sequencing functions with gas flow control. This unit replaces the now obsolete SV9500, SV9501 and SV9502 models, so if you’re planning on changing your thermostat, or another component of your HVAC system, it might be a good idea to also change your older gas valve models with the SV9501M 2528 Smart Valve, or a similar unit. This model features some interesting capabilities and features, such as an ignition trial time of 90 seconds, a flame failure maximum response time of 1.6 seconds, electrode-based flame sensors, pilot gas outlets, a maximum capacity of 200ft per hour and a straight through body structure pattern.
