Asco Switches

The pressure and temperature switches are a range of miniature or industrial sized switches, designed with the sole purpose of measuring pressure or temperature limits and signaling when the set value is either hit or exceeded. The way these switches operate is extremely easy to understand, even if you are not very technically savvy. A transducer inside the switch operates a mechanical snap switch if it “senses” that the preset pressure or temperature value has been hit or exceeded and it will automatically reset itself when the pressure media drops under the set value. These switches can hold an adjustable or fixed dead band, making use of a wide range of set points of vacuum. They usually operate between temperatures of -60º F to 640º F (-51º C to 337º C).
There are a large number of our switch series, ordered in three categories: pressure switches, temperature switches and specialty switches. Pressure switch series include the Miniature Non Adjustable (or J-Series), the Miniature Adjustable (or H-Series), the Compact Vacuum (or P-Series), the ASCO Industrial 0 to 8000 psiq, the Industrial Vacuum Differential and the Industrial Combustion (the last three being referred to as the S-Series). Temperature switches include the Compact -30º F to 510º F (or P Series) and the Industrial -30º F to 640º F (or S-Series). The ASCO Miniature Non Adjustable switches are low-cost pressure switches that have non adjustable set points as a factory-set feature. They also have a fixed deadband and a diaphragm or piston sensor. Some of the series features include being environmentally sealed with specially compounded epoxy, to protect pressure switches from dust, oil, water, salt spray or any other harmful contaminants, being vibration and shock resistant for up to 10 G’s and the series’ models being defined as precision electrical snap action switches. They are also tamperproof and have a vented construction that allows the fixed set points to operate unhindered in the system.
ASCO’s Miniature Adjustable models, are quite the opposite of the ASCO Miniature Non-Adjustable ones. Whereas those switches had factory-assembled set points, the Miniature Adjustable models’ switches can be adjusted to your needs. The field adjustable set points allow the pressure switch to be mounted in any position you find appropriate, whilst maintaining secure and suitable control over the system. The deadband is also fixed, just like it’s non-adjustable brother, but there are more differences between the two: the adjustable model allows for a smaller structure size, allowing you to fit the switch more room-wise, it mounts in any position, it has visual adjustment scales and it has a resilient diaphragm that helps prolong life of the switch and maintains set point repeatability, regardless of any temperature deviations.
The ASCO Compact Vacuum pressure switch has some distinct features that make it extremely useful. They incorporate the unique ASCO Tri-Point technology, which is an alternating fulcrum balance plate that controls electrical snap action switches. The switch can be ordered in either open or sealed frames and either a fixed or full-range adjustable deadband. It mounts in any position you require and its compact size allows installation in difficult, tight spots.
The S-Series, containing the Industrial 0 to 8000 psiq, the Industrial Vacuum Differential and the Industrial Combustion models, is an extremely versatile pressure switch with distinctive series features. For example, the S-Series models include external adjusting nuts, separate pressure and electrical chambers, a wide selection of transducer wetted materials that can be used for corrosive fluids or gas, oil, water or air flows, a wiring system that allows accessibility from the front of the switch and a manual reset unit that holds the master controls for each ASCO pressure switch.
The two temperature switch models, the Compact -30º F to 510º F and the Industrial -30º F to 640º F, operate in a similar manner to the pressure switches, only the control temperature limits. The bulb of the switch senses temperature limits that exceed the set point and creates internal pressure that in turn, is sensed by the transducer. The transducer converting this pressure, operates a snap-action switch in the switch unit which determines the signals to be employed. The Compact model holds features like: compact size, rugged and vibration resistant, copper or stainless steel transducers, it withstands high temperatures and has a set point repeatability of approximately 1º F. The Industrial models hold pretty much the same features, only at a bigger scale. Some of differentiating features include a manual reset unit, separate temperature, electrical and adjusting chambers and a varied ambient temperature rating of -4º F to 140º F.
